I have a long description (too long to post here) of this ride on the Gyros
This Event all distances https://app.racereach.com/e.php?group_id=247&eid=196107
In a nutshell, we celebrate a great season of cycling and old and new friends. This will be our 4th year and, if you haven’t done this before, we have A+, A and A- riders riding together until the first rest stop at 27 miles.
After that, we split and the faster riders will ride 100 miles to Virgilina, Virginia while I will take over the A and A- riders for a 69 mile ride. The 51 mile route spits just before Stem as A/A- turn left on Range Rd @18.1 miles. Ian and Carl will lead the 51 group to Stem BP stop @ 19.3 miles
The ride to Virgilina, VA is spectacular in the fall with crisp morning temperatures and the onset of fall colors throughout the ride.
This ride is a SOCIAL RIDE and will be CONTROLLED at an 18-19mph average pace. You MUST be able to maintain the minimum posted pace over a long distance. If you can not keep the pace, you risk getting dropped. That means, if you struggle to keep at least an 18mph average pace for a much shorter distance, you may want to join the B Group.
The contrary is also true. If you are a racer and think that you can join the ride and keep going off the front to try and prove how strong you are, THIS RIDE IS ALSO NOT FOR YOU!
I can tell you that we will let riders loose toward the end of the ride which can be anywhere from 10-15 miles out.
I will post any and all updates as we get closer to the ride date. (Bad weather cancels the ride!)
If you know of non-Gyros who may be interested in joining the ride, please feel free to extend an invitation as long as they understand the logistics of the ride. I do not want outsiders coming to our ride and disrupting our plan.
Please go to our website for more details.
